Illinois-based national pharmacy chain Walgreens has agreed to pay $9.9 Million to resolve allegations, asserted by two pharmacists employed by Walgreens, that Walgreens had been falsely billing the Medicaid program.

The allegations of the case were that Walgreens knowingly overbilled Medicaid for prescription drugs it provided to Medicaid recipients.

As a reward for having filed their qui tam claim, the two Walgreens pharmacists will receive $1,446,658.54.
